This is my first plug on wich I had the change to apply all the theory about lockpicking even though it doesn't seem this type of lock can be picked by the regular pick tools (it's in the closed position in the photo and you notice the key shaft is not vertical but horizontal). I opened it with a hair pin very easily but I'm curious how do you call this lock? Do you think this is harder or easier to pick than a lock with a vertical shaft because I'd like to try one of those as well (maybe I'll buy a padlock to practice on). And I'm curious what other's first locks where (maybe that way I'll get used to the different types of locks and terminology).

That looks like a euro-cylinder, dimple lock. How easy you said it was to open I'd say that it is a relativly cheap or no-name lock. The more expensive and high security locks of this kind are extremly difficult to pick
