Posted by sphinx I jumped from 12' and broke my ankle, but thats cause I landed funny. My foot landed on one of those small black sprinklers, and bent about ninety degrees. It was pretty damn painful, and I heard the bone snap.

By 90 degrees, do you mean belly-flop style, or that you landed on your feet and bent at the waist 90 degrees? I did that latter once after my highest vault (a standard lazy vault) from 10-12 feet high and landed on my feet. I had a more precision-like landing but I failed to bend my knees whatsoever, so I ended up touching my toes very awkwardly. I could have really messed up my spine.. Typically, though I don't usually try to gauge the actual height, I'm able to land 15+ foot fall onto grass/soft surfaces, 10-13 ft. on hard/manmade surfaces, and less when I'm actually clearing/vaulting something down onto a lower surface.

I believe he means his foot rolled 90degrees around the horizontal front-to-back axis. So like, instead of being flat on the ground, it would have been flat on the side of a box on the ground. I've sprained my ankle pretty hard doing that on a 7' jump when I came down on a rock...
