hi all. I got this: http://uem.minimanga.com/transmitter.jpg It's a 25W radio transmitter. My boss wants to use it to send a toned-down signal, maybe 1W. Does anyone here know enough about the electronics of it to do such a thing?
Urban Exploration Montreal Why are you the way that you are? | |
If it's 25w, there may be a seperate inline amp for the final RF. It will have coax out form the main circuitry into another box, which is the amp, and then out into an antenna, remove that and hook the antenna directly to the main coax and you will end up with 1w - 5w, possibly. Got a model number?

If you had a schematic for it, I could tell you if there is adjustment for the unit's RF out power level. Beyond that, you would not only need some knowledge of electronics and general radio theory, but some test equipment to make sure the unit is aligned properly upon completion of the work. A simple idea would be to use either a dummy load with an antenna option.
