Anyone here with pictures or stories about exploring abandoned Railroad lines or Abandoned railroad structures. I have explored 2 abandoned lines and gone to a few structures along those lines.

the old lachine station had lots of junk and stuff lying around, it moved 1/4 km west.
the old b'nois station burned 2 years ago :'(

adirondack station in kahnawake is long gone but its foundation and tile floor are still there

Thanks for the tip Youppi, The only one I knew of was the St-Martin JTC station that is also used by CP M.O.W. crews, I will have to check the others, I remember in the late 70's I used to see alot of them especially the CP ones, I was then around 11-12 years old and had no interest in them, they had alot of them I remember. St-Martin JTC is the only staion left on the whole Island.

Within an hour of Montreal you will find:

Calumet, Marelan, Lachute, Berthierville, Epiphanie. All are now along the Quebec Gatineau railway and are former CPR stations, most being original 1870's QMO stations.

I plan on checking out the old M&O Railway between Ottawa and Montreal. I recently did a good map on the alignment but a bad job on station placement (some places I'm not even sure if there was stations there).

http://maps.google...7fb45&ll=45.554449,-74.847107&spn=0.786593,1.675415&t=h&z=9

Just ignore the stations, their my best attempt at placing stations but stations like Navan, I am pretty sure on their placement.

I have some pictures from today of the M&O near Trim Road (south of Navan) so I'll put them up here tomorrow.

You're not too bad with the map of the M&O. The station for Navan is actually just past Smith Road, and it's long gone (unfortunately). I'm not sure about the location of the others, I've just seen a picture of the Navan station back in the 1900's. I walked along the line a while ago from a bit beyond the Blackburn station to about a tenth of a mile of where the Navan station was. You're missing the Blackburn Hamlet Station, but it was pretty small and was demolished way way back (the line was torn up in 1986, and it was long gone then) so I think it ended up being just a sign board. If you're going to correct the map, keep in mind that the diamond with the M&O and the Alexandria Sub. in Ottawa is still there, so you could probably use that as a reference point, as well as with the Navan station.

A couple years ago, I found historic maps and info of the old New Almaden RR line (part of the SP and SPCRR lines) in San Jose, CA, but never bookmarked it. I've now scoured the web and google images for pics and info on the line. No find.

If anyone has any information that they found of this line, please, please PM me!

Line info:
Starts from the Oakridge line (hwy 85/87) and connects to the old Camden line. Both run down to the town of New Almaden and it's end of line station stopped at what's now the Almaden Expy & Almaden Road stoplight intersection (near the old Feed & Fuel stop).

Camden line ran from Los Gatos to New Almaden. Almaden line ran from a junction in South San Jose to New Almaden. Both eventually connected to the SPCRR and SP main line routes from the Vasona Junction and Williams Junction in San Jose.

I only have maps of the Camden line, SP, and SPCRR routes, but no evidence of the Almaden line...

Thanks!

Between the two active rail bridges, you can see the supports of a much older bridge. This area is prone to severe flooding, and the original bridge went underwater at least once in its history, so it's no surprise that the new structures are somewhat more elevated.

Some of you might like the Doney Spur. I explored a section of it myself a few years ago then last summer walked the whole thing in sections with a few friends.

Just put Doney Spur in the search box on the blog.
