Anybody like this series? I just wrapped up season 3, starting season 4 and I love it. Perhaps its not in the same ethics as TOS/TAS/TNG, but its fun. At first I avoided it as it was dubbed as a soap opera, but its anything but, its packed full of everything. Great story line throughout the entire series, character development, and cheesey nerds-will-only-get-it comedy.

Quality show.

Certain seasons kinds sucked, but all together it wrapped up nicely near the end.

It became more of an entangled series like B5 was, but you could still watch one episode and understand what was going on. I'd love to watch the series through its entirety.

I loved DS9.
It was my favorite out of all the Star Treks.

Blasphemy.

The original series reigns supreme... with its dated, terrible costumes, basement-quality special effects and William Shatner!

I know this thread is old, but: I liked this show for the characters, and the character centric stories. I did not enjoy the shallow relgiously themed 20th century Jew/Germany Bajoran/Cardassian stories, though.

As the series grew older, the characters more rounded out and the stories less trite, I loved it. Then came the Dominion war and turned the show into crap once more.

Given the plot opportunities of Voyager, I could see enjoying the show a lot more. With Voy I did not really like the characters or find myself wanting to see them as I did in DS9.

With Voyager, the way it ended very much turned me off. It was too abrupt. I wish that it would have showed the re-intergration of the crew better and how the doctor is received as a sentient hologram.

Yeah I think they kinda went overboard with the whole persecuted hologram thing. After all, isn't earth some sort of paradise that would simply grant him status as a sentient being anyway?

DS9 was a good series. Not my favourite of the four series (I don't count Enterprise coz it's just NASTY), BUT....My favourite bit of DS9 is the three-episode stoy arc about The Circle (DS9: "The Homecoming", "The Circle", "The Siege" ). It's a great story arc that explains the Bajorans a little.

Agreed, Enterprise ruined trek. Period.

Curious, what is your favorite then?

Next Gen was my favourite, with Voyager a close second. I started watching Star Trek when NextGen was brand new in 1986-87. I was only Kid Octane then, and this NextGen was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I was hooked.

I love TNG, although for any of the Treks, it had more of the "closed box" feel than DS9, even though they got to go everywhere.

I watch the episodes now, and I see how sexist the writing really was. And how silly some of the first few episodes were...like, Picard basically telling people to shut the hell up, I don't want to hear it, and Riker as well...then no one cares, they're all best friends anyway! I'm thinking, these people are downright mean to each other!

In DS9 if something happened like that, well, people got mad.

TNG is cool to watch and I like the stories, but as far as the characters themselves, there's just not a lot of depth so much as them fitting into the story. It got a lot better toward the end, though, as far as character interaction went.
