okay well, i'm pretty good at windows and such, but the only problem is i have never used another os brand. so i got knoppix (cd version of linux) and i have no idea what to do in it, it says that i set up my adsl connection but i dont even know how to connect it and im not even sure i set it up, and one more question is linux better than windows? should i install a real version because im up for a challenge.

Get Mandrake 10.0. It's probably the easiest version out there.

i take it that its a full install and not a cd version? and are the full versions any better?

Yes, it's a full install. I've never tried cd versions so I can't help you there.

i would try ubuntu over knoppix, but that's just me.

Your adsl config is very dependant on ISP settings, like needing PPPoE or A or having a static address etc etc.


on the menu go to Internet -> Connect -> KPPP -> ADSL/PPPoE configuration.
