Infiltration

Summer is upon us. Its 7:40AM and the temperature outside is already in the mid 20's. Its probably going to break 30 at least today. Its been like this for a couple of days now. Its not that bad, really. I feel pretty comfortable in this weather, usually. I just don't like it when I need to sleep in it or when its excessively humid. I hope I get to do some exploring soon. Summer is always the best time for exploring, especially draining. I went on my first draining adventure exactly a year and a day (Canada Day) ago. I remember it pretty fondly, I'd like to do that location again some time (Mountain Juggernaught in Hamilton in the Database). Theres something different about draining compared to abandoned buildings and the such. Theres a very much heightened sense of alert, you're more aware of your surroundings and you know that if your light goes out, you will most likely be trapped and die down there. The last thing you worry about is getting caught, except on the way in or out. Everything has a weird echo to it and the water seems to flow on and on. Sometimes the smallest inconsistencies in the flow of water can sound like a raging torrent of water. I remember hearing what sounded like Niagara Falls off in the distance and I was expecting to see water dropping into a mammoth chamber, maybe 20-30 feet down. It was only a tiny 5-8 foot drop off a ledge. It made me feel like an idiot. Draining is fun.

On other topics, tomorrow is Canada Day. I plan to be out all day, going to some festival with my friend and wrapping up the night with fireworks and a bit of exploring. Not sure what we'll hit up, I guess I'll scan the DB for some possible locations and see what we can scout during the day. The DB is pretty useful in that aspect, its an index of abandoned locations... a checklist if you will to what to do next. Then, its also a reporting tool to share information with other explorers. Well, thats what it is to me. Its a lot of different things to a lot of people. I'm really glad its there.

Its still early and I've got a bit of cash... maybe I'll take a trip to Toronto today. I haven't been there since April for the Toronto UE Meet, I think I'll go hit up some Toronto locations. I have only been to 2 or 3 of them. Problem with Toronto exploration seems that most of the locations are closed, active or demolished. Toronto is a pretty booming city, so its understandable that most things aren't abandoned. I'm just so used to Hamilton's urban decay. It should be a fun trip anyway, I'll get to fuck around on the TTC again.... its been a long time. -goes off to DB to find locations-
