Does any one use the IRLP system on the two meter band?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! | |

It's boring.
Why?
It's not ham radio.
Ham radio, in my opinion, is using HF and talking around the world...not using a 2m radio and hooking it to the Internet...

Talking around the world on HF is probably the most well-known activity for ham radio operators, but there is in-fact so much more than that. Unfortunately IRLP is one of those activities that some hams get a kick out of. Personally I find no excitement in "working" someone this way - it seems too much like Skype, or voice chat with an instant messanger client. Lots of controversy about the validity of IRLP.

Would you guys be int in going to a reflector to chat? we could use the vancouver reflector channel whatever at a pre arranged time.

I much prefer using P25 digital with DES encryption 
Much less annoying than listening to some idiot talk about his new antenna setup...

I also like P25 Digital with DES... But alas not many people have access to that...
I am just getting in th amateur radio, and have become quite interested in IRLP... only problem appears to be all the IRLP nodes around here (VE3SKY, VE3YYZ, VE3YRC, etc...) appear to not be working properly, YRC gives an error code 99 and the club doesn't care to deal with it, YYZ appears to be disconnected from it's IRLP Computer, and SKY just never seams to want to connect to any nodes.
I would love to get in to it more because a lot of the repeaters around here are either dead, used by foreign speaking hams (TWR), or by grouchy hams that bite your head off because their dirty ham buddy they wanted to talk to isnt on the repeater.
