garmin GPSs antenna fix?

Anyone here every opened up a garmin GPSMAP 76 CS?

I have one and it uses MCX for the external antenna jack, But that type doesn't take to kindly to being bashed around, so less then a month later, 2 MCX adapters for my antenna later and getting a pins stuck in the garmin's jack lol

its sent back for repairs (free warranty repair) but i want to do something so this doesn't happen again. And i never use it without an antenna.

considered opening it up and soldering in a cable with BNC to replace it or something, but i'd rather not void the warranty just yet and i'm not sure how the antenna jack is mounted.

anyone have any ideas?
