Nukes for 5.5 US?

Taken from EYE SPY Magazine Volume IV No. 30 2005

One of Britian's, richest businessmen, exiled Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky, apparently put the CIA and MI6 hard on the heels of a Chechen who said he wanted 5.5m in return for handing over a compact nuclear bomb.

[Berezovsky] He explained that the man, known as Zakhar, had some very important information for him. Berezovsky knew Zakhar from his time in exile in Paris (he had helped provide support by giving him 5000 pounds in cash).

Zakhar said he was acting as an intermediary for the nuclear bomb seller; it became clear the matter required immediate attention.

[The CIA and] MI% was fully aware of the meeting and the nature of the discussions involving "illicit nuclear and radiological materials" On the recording. Zakhar said that the nuclear bomb was fitted inside a suitcase and was but one of a number of portable nuclear devices manufactured by the russians as teh Cold War ended and Communism disintegrated in the former Soviet Union.

The CIA asked Berezovsky to organize another meeting in London with Zakhar where he was invited to bring along some proof that the bomb was real. Zakhar apparently suspected he was being set up never did provide any tangible evidence.

Unknown quanties of plutonium, caesium, strontium and low enriched uranium had allegedly fallen into the hands of the Chechens raising the spectre of several 'dirty bombs' being planted across the world.

Intelligence sources are convinced that at least one test has been made to detonate materials with conventional explosives. This by the group which carried out the Beslan atrocity and headed by the notorious Shamil Basayev who has vowed to attack the West and Russian again. A device was discovered near a railway line outside Argun, about 10 miles east of Grozny, in 1998. A container full of radioactive substances was found with a mine attached to it.

Dirty bombs are actually not particularly dangerous. their real effect is in societal disorder and fear.

Yeah, I'd guess that most governments would just not bother to inform the public that a dirty bomb had gone off, and blame any eventual health problems on smoking or industrial waste or something. Terrorists could cause the same damage by blowing up a box of sand and claiming that it was a dirty bomb. Maybe add some smoke detector elements and radium paint from ebay to make Joe Survivalist's gieger counter tick.

I don't know. They didn't do much for "health risks" after 9-11. That dropped so much asbestos and other nasty stuff all over new york. The feds won't do shit for people if it costs money.
