I've been playing around with GPS lately, since I got a compact flash reciever for my pocket computer. I've done some mapping with it both on the pocket and on my laptop, it's definitely fun but only as reliable as the maps I input or download. Some PC GPS resources: http://www.expertgps.com/ A fairly good autodownload system, with all the important features. A free demo download is available on the site, and there's a full activation crack floating around if you're too much of an ass to pay for it. http://www.pdawin.com/GPSeasyCE.html The pocketPC app I'm using. Downloading and calibrating maps manually is kind of annoying, but it's useful for bike trips and hiking. http://gpsdash.com/news.php A cool freeware alternative for pocket computers. I haven't used it a whole lot, while map calibration is still manual, it gives you a lot more useful data. http://maptech.com...avigator/index.cfm I'm considering buying this, I like the automatic download/calibration features and the marine charts (I live on the coast and love boating). I also have an old Windows CE 2.0 handheld, which I can't upgrade but would like to use as more than a paperweight. If anyone knows where I can get a CE2.0 compatible GPS program I'll owe you a beer
Turn off the internet and go play outside. http://spamusement...hp/comics/view/137 |
