Ever wanted to drive a TTC subway train at home on your computer? I just did :)
Davisville station, viewed from the southbound track looking East
St. Patrick station, looking down the Southbound platform
Entering Glencairn station Southbound, from the cab of a T1
Yorkdale station, very nicely modelled

Looks cool!
Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back. |

Wow! What computer program is this? How can I get it?

Boso View Express http://mackoy.cool.ne.jp/index2.html Click the pic above "Ver 2.6.3" then click the text "BVE Ver 2.6.3". Now click on English Download. Most of the website is Japanese, but it shouldn't be too hard to find the right files. When you get that set-up, let me know and I will set the route package up for download. Theres a large plethora of routes and trains available... for all different kinds of trains. Subway, freight, passenger. Mostly though, BVE is used for subway routes. This is the only Toronto subway route done right now, however the Bloor-Danforth is also being slowly worked on. Theres also a huge collection of New York subway routes.

Just uploaded it. Disregard the instructions in the main readme file. Just drag all the folders into the C:\Program Files\BVE folder. Then follow the instructions in the "signals" folder to set up the TTC style signals. http://s27.yousend...HUX9J0LDRO29GPMA9W A BVE route database: www.bve-routes.com

Okay, looks like it has some potential but how the hell do you use it? What are the commands, etc. Is there a user guide? And were/how can I download the routes/trains of my choice? Blue

For routes look around on http://www.bve-routes.com/ Some of them are offline (such as the Montreal ones I believe). As for the controls, it depends. You can change those in the options to what feels right for you.

TWO LEVER TRAIN Z Increase Power A Decrease Power < Increase Brake > Release Brake ? Activate Emergency Brake ONE LEVER TRAIN Z More Power / Less Brake A Less Power / More Brake Q Activate Emergency Brake COMMON TRAIN CONTROLS UP Arrow Forward DOWN Arrow Reverse (N Neutral) SPACE BAR ATS Accept INSERT Continuation Chime Reset DELETE Emergency Brake Reset END Open Emergency Brake PAGE UP Change to ATS Control PAGE DOWN Change to ATC Control BACKSPACE Speed Hold SHIFT + F2 Safety System Power On CTRL + F2 Safety System Reset F3 "Passenger Meter" On/Off SHIFT + F3 Time & Door (Press Again) Frame Rate Display F4 Open/Close Time-table SHIFT + F4 Scroll Time-table UP CTRL + F4 Scroll Time-table DOWN Yah, it looks confusing but half that stuff you won't even need. Just pay attention to the Power and Brake controls. You probably won't need any of that ATS/ATC or safety reset stuff. On some trains, such as the T1, you'll need to use the arrow keys for power and brakes. If you click the grey box thing at the left side of the screen, you'll get some options. In one of those selections, there will be a selector for control method 1 or 2. While its on 1, you can use the arrow keys to control the reverser, on method 2 they control the speed and brake.

After going 120 around a corner and bouncing off a wall, I'm guessing it's impossible to crash a train in this simulation.
Life is a series of calculated risks... I've always sucked at math. |

Yes, you're right. There are no derailments that I know of.

Any chance of uploading again? The link says that it's expired and I can't get it off bve-routes.com Thanks!

I would love to try the Toronto route on BVE, but the site doesn't host it anymore, can someone upload it again? Also looking for the Montreal Green line. Thanks....

Heh, to be honest I don't even have it anymore myself and I'm not sure where to get it anymore... its been a good while now. If I find it I'll post it here though.

Ok no rush, as I have other things to fix on the PC first like my dying 2nd hard disk, I'll guess I'll be doing some backups. Thanks.

damn, this thing is addicting. too bad they don't have the chicago loop.
do you know how to waltz? |

I know the guy that made the first line, Dave. He won't be making the second Bloor-danforth route as planned. However, I noticed no one has ever mention MSTS ? I have played both and there is absolutely no comparison.

I still dip into MSTS every once in awhile but it doesn't hold my interest as it used to. It crashes way too often for me to even attempt to have fun with it. Buggy 5 year old software...

The company that Microsoft contracted out for MSTS is going to realize the sequal for MSTS on its own soon, since Microsoft didn't want to renew the franchise.
