So, can we talk about ninja and stuff here?
I’ve been learning to throw shuriken, anybody have any tips?
How about ninja climbing techniques?

I dented the hell out of my door and walls throwing those fuckers. Fortunately the dorm admin didn't notice and I kept my damage deposit

I'm no good with professional throwing knives, although I have a fishing knife that I can balance and throw accurately at certain distances. Pretty useless but fun.

I climb a bit, mostly just free climbing or rappelling, I've never used a grappling hook or actually done much real rock climbing outside a gym. Maybe Jester will drop in and tell us how to be a climbing ninja

Throwing knives can be fun, however I prefer to use throwing axes. Just something a bit more sinister about an axe being thrown at something. Not to mention they do quite a bit of damage to watermelons!

Im reading(friend stole so I cant finish it)about modern warfare. It goes into tons of info about two world class groups in special forces work. One is the spetsnaz which I'll probably post here later. The second is the Ninja style training of asia. Although many asian militaries have drastically modernized, many have inherent use of old ninja tactics. From how to take the last guy in a platoon, thus demoralizing and freezing a unit, to other specialized tactics.

I honestly hate the word Ninja it always brings the images of throwing stars and super flips through the night. Although most ninja info and history are wonderful, they hold little truth to the true concepts. Basically ninjas didnt super mystical jumps and little smoke bombs stuff. They used logic, tactics and good footwork to terrorize and demoralize the enemy, among other things.

I made throwing stars when I was a kid, but they were flimsy and would bend some of the time. I have some throwing knives and never really got very good with them.

Tabi boots really are very handy, no hype, just truth. I really want to get some from that kick ass tabi manufacturer in Japan. I have a friend over there, but he's so damn lazy, i've been trying to get him to get me some and bring them back next time he comes here...

Avoid the multi-pointed stars, they don't penetrate as deep, look for a three or four point star. Your two basic throws are from the side (like a frisbee) and overhand. The side throw takes some practice, learning when to release so that it impacts with the target while the overhand has a higher chance of hitting your target (somewhere from the head to the feet). I seem to get more power with the overhand throw as well, throwing it like a fastball with a snap of the arm.
As far as climbing goes, I've rappelled and climbed minor rock cliffs and trees but you really got to be careful. I once threw a high school shop grappling hook onto an old quarry building and started climbing up the side of a cement block wall like batman, had the rope tied to my waist. As I got a few feet up, the grapple dug into the fiberglass roof sheeting and down I went, the rope stopped me from landing on my back against a very large quarry piece of granite. This was a very sobering experience.

If you guys are truly interested in ninjutsu or shuriken throwing, I'd be happy to help you guys out. I've been teaching traditional ninjutsu for three years. Keep in mind, I teach the traditional stuff, not the cheesy ninjutsu you see all over the internet today.
Feel free to message me.

Behind every mistake, there is a lesson.

I'm just not that great at learning them!
