I'm surprised no one has mentioned using the peanut butter from MRE's as a solid fuel. Just place the canteen cup full of water on two rocks about 1/2 to 3/4 inch above the pile of peanut butter. Light it and wait. It wont boil but it will be warm.

Or if you just need to start a fire, don't mix the peanut butter up, open it and squeeze the oil off. This will get even damp tinder lit, then slowly start adding bigger and bigger sticks.
