I figured I would start out with a survey and some info. I will refrain from posting the info on the site untill people have taken the quiz.

I got 13/20 .......
but then again I was sitting on the phone at work discussing something with one of our sales reps, so I wasn't giving it my full attention (that and I missed some of the videos, too bad you can't play them twice).
Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal? Its a natural plant that grows in the dirt. You know what's not natural, 80 year old dudes with hardons. Thats not natural, but we got pills for that. We're dedicating all our resources to keeping the old guys erect but we're puttin people in jail for smoking something that grows in the dirt. |

I got 14/20 as well... although I realized I wasn't going to do well because on a lot of them, I wasn't sure at all. Others, though, were very definite. Very interesting anyway.

I watch people's overall body language more than just their faces when reading a person, so that was kind of tough, not having any posture and slight body movements that give clues to a person's real emotion. I actually thought I was bombing it totally...

Funny, I felt the same way.
I do the same thing, I watch the overall body language, it's much more telling than just a face.

I'll agree with what Jester, Servo and Frost have said so far on this. There's so much more to observe when figuring something like this out. Sound might have been helpful as well. Different breathing patterns, or nervous laughs/sighs, ect...

17/20....Just watch the eyes....Also, smiling is contagious, so, I noticed that I tended to smile along with the videos of the real smilers.

Granted, I took psycology in university, so I suppose that gives me an unfair advantage.
Body language is everything. You can easily fake a smile, but you cannot fake how your body reacts to you smiling. When you want to smile, your brain does more than just flex the muscles you need to smile. You can fake the smile, but what happens with the rest of your facial muscles, you can't fake very easily (although it can be done).
Just the same as lying. Sure, some people are REALLY good at lying, but generally speaking, there's a few very good tell-tale signs if someone is lying to you that you just can't fake that easily.

Bah! So did I, but I still sucked at this. Too much neuroscience, not enough behavioral psych.
I still think the eyes are a good indicator, despite my poor performance. Although I can't explain why.

If you look someone in the eyes, 99 times out of 100, you can tell if they are lying to you or not.

Use the word "deceiving" instead of lying, since while you can watch the eyes to try to tell if they are deceiving you or not; Whether they are lying, holding information back, or whatever else, you probably can't tell by the eyes themselves  .

Yea I'd agree with that. I'm an excellent deceiver when it comes to people looking me straight in the eye. I can pull it off pretty damn good everytime and people naturally believe me. Comes in handy when you need it
