Star Trek should've died with Roddenberry. The Next Generation was cool, but everything else kinda sucked, IMHO.

Enterprise SUCKS ASS. The Star Trek storyline is SO messed up right now cause of it.

Why couldn't they do the fifth series as Starfleet Academy like they were supposed to???

Just like all the other series, i probably won't watch it until it's over, and they are playing the re-run's late at night, along with "B" movies. (well, except for the original Star Trek, since i wasn't even born yet)

In my mind it goes like this:

TNG
DS9 (Its pretty much tied for first as my favorite Trek of all time)
TOS

STVOY

Enterprise.

I do think that a lot of people are going to be changing minds on their opinion of Enterprise once the series is done, as long as they make it to the full 8 seasons like they should. I have a general theory about Star Trek. Outside of TOS, every series has started out sucking and then starting around season 3 starts kicking butt. I'm reminded of DS9, whose early seasons were just silly. I even have problems watching early eps of TNG. It really was around season 3 that TNG really got good, in my humble opinion.

That is pretty true. I also think people who watch it currently but don't really like it all that much will look back on it later and find out they like it more than they originally thought. At least that's how it was with me and DS9. When it was on the air I didn't much care for it, but after the fact, watching the entire series in succession on dvd, I now consider it to be almost on par with TNG (which nothing can beat, of course). Oh, and I believe it is 7 seasons the series' tend to run, not 8

I watched the pilot and the first 10-12ish episodes when they first aired and then I stopped watching for a while. When I came back I swear I thought I was watching Andromeda for a minute. It reminds me of Farscape in that if you don't watch it for a while you can come back and be totally lost. Plus I think it lacks a strong lead actor. I like Bakula but he is no Patrick Stewart.

You should have had an option, "The Opening sequence rocks but the show kind of sucks!".

I watch it on occaision and enjoy Bakula, but for some reason I feel they wrote Archer's character just like Sam Beckett. I would have liked it if he was a little more hard ass. I also think they should have retained a little of the humor from TOS. I never really got into Voyager because it always felt so dark, and visually it was dark as well. Enterprise suffers from the same dark syndrome, maybe I'll enjoy it in retrospect, but for now it is an occaisional watch and most episodes I have seen haven't done much for me, well other than the one where Dean Stockwell popped in. I'm a huge Quantum Leap fan, more so than a Star Trek fan.

Voyager kind of reminded me of those old 50's-60's shows like "Wagon Train"... they just keep wagon training while never getting there. Me, I am a get there, get it over with kinda person. Janeway never struck me as interesting. Way too much of an ice queen for my tastes. Maybe that is harsh, but her cast just didn't work for me.

DS9 was just whatever, kinda like 'well-TNG-isn't-on-anymore-so-we'll-waste-time-with-this-mushy-crap-until-something-cooler-is-on'.
I was completely turned off by 'Enterprise'... Quantum Leap in space. That doesn't seem fair, but it feels like when they were writing the initial episodes, they had QL going in the background.

One aspect of Enterprise that I enjoy are the story arcs.
They began in DS9 and Voyager, and now seem to be the standard. I like how there are a series of episodes (or entire seasons) that follow the same story. With TNG, the stories ended as soon as the episode was over (except for to be continueds), and there was little reference to past episodes. Each week was a new adventure, and everything that came up was solved in one hour. TNG was still awesome, but I wonder what it would have been like with arcs...

Totally unrelated: Did anyone else notice the reference to Enterprise in ST: Nemesis?

About a year ago, I was an avid-enterprise basher. The inconsistancies ran rampant, the effects weren't that cool and things were being brought in way too quickly. I mean, Captain Pike didn't have Phase Cannons, so how does Archer? After while, I started reading about the Xindi war. Everyone was hyping this up on usenet as the Romulan war, so I tuned in. Season 3 was better then S2, but it still wasn't up to par with TNG.4 or DS9.5-7. I would be willing to say that in general, no one series is better then any other. And rather then favorite shows, prehaps favorite season or eppisode would be better. So, here's my rant;

TOS - My favorite eppisode is the one where they steal the cloak from the romulans. The Enterprise Incident? Since I haven't really watched most of TOS, I can't say I have a favorite season.

TNG - Yesterday's Enterprise. Season 4 (The Borg) or Season 6 (Klingon Civil War) were my favorites.

DS9 - I like the Way of the Warrior, with "Valiant" a close second. Seasons 5-7 were definatly the top, but I'd say 5 was probably the best. The Klingon/Federation war was by far one of the deepest things I think I've seen on trek ever.

Voy - We are Gene of Trek. Resistance is futile. You will be eliminated.

ENT- Storm Front took the train off the trains and got it running again. "Home" had more drama then an eppisode of ER, and "The Borderland" dabbles in something we haven't seen since the Wraith of Khan. And features Brent Spiner as a guest star. If you haven't tuned in for a while, it's time to check back in. Oh, and this new Executive Producer is doing one hell of a job.

Have you ever seen the extra footage of the french-canadian woman they originally cast (and shot "Caretaker" with) as Janeway? She was terrible in the role! I was never a huge fan of Janeway, but the rest of the cast made up for it (mostly Picardo).
