robots
entry by The Hitman's Daughter
9/29/2004 9:31 PM

This scan looks like shit, but this is a painting i just finished today. I haven't named it yet. it's acrylic on 16x20 canvas.

I think i'm going to be doing more robots as soon as i'm done with the commissioned paintings i have to do. Robots are fun.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. EatsTooMuchJam is coming back here and xrahy's going to be back from europe and we're going to Richmond to do some exploring.

That's a great painting.

Eh, personally I like it. It's art, it's subjective... you can't please everyone.

Great and scary painting... My first thought when I saw it was of little robot Klan children heading for a cross burning, thus the scary part...

That's kind of what I saw as well, maybe that's what the art site comment was about.

Very nice work

thanks guys...

yeah i'm not too bothered by that other person's criticism. I mean, normally i appreciate constructive criticism because sometimes other people can point out something that you wouldn't have noticed and make suggestions on how to make it better, or a better technique of acheiving something, you know? But this guy was just being a dick I think, plus - after some looking around, i realized that his idea of art was silly photoshop manipulated pictures, so, i'm not too upset about what he has to say, lol

Art is completely subjective and some of the worst critics of it are other artists.

I think the painting is fun. It has a sort of delightful surreal post-apocalyptic flavor to it. I'm also delighted at the parent robot leading the child robot around. It's too cute.

That's a sweet painting. I heart acrylics. Good for everything. Multi-purpose is the way to be. I did an acrylic painting last year of Jesus where his robe is all torn and the skin around his right arm is like.. deteriorating.. to expose a robotic arm. And I painted his face like a clown. Then behind him is the glowing sacred heart that's plugged in to an electrical outlet. I go to a private school, so it didn't go over so well. But my teacher loved the controversy, so she kept it up a while. Tangent. All apologies. Moral of the story: acrylics are great for blasphemous acts..? o__0

..c.
