To be honest, I've gotten pretty burned out on the big 5000+ word style historical writeups. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them, but I've ended up putting a ton of pressure on myself to make ALL my threads full scale deep dives. To try and relax a bit, I'm just going to post a series of threads from my East Coast trip last spring with only a short paragraph or two of context. Not everything needs or deserves a giant essay after all. This one is the pumphouse for a now-demolished steel mill, and it's apparently a pretty well known local spot. By the looks of it someone is using it as a private marina too. There was a walking height tunnel across the road that led to a dead end where the steel mill used to be too, so I'm assuming that's how water was transported from the pumphouse to the mill.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. | |
