Never done one of these before but I saw so many incredible posts from others and felt like putting one together myself. With school, work, and other priorities I'm glad to have been able to fit in what I did. I've purposely left a lot of images vague and I'll be excluding some locations. I'll be sharing one image per location and only including the locations that meant the most to me to keep this somewhat short. My drawers of negatives are a complete unorganized mess so I'll only be sharing pictures I took on my phone.
These pictures won't be in any specific order except for this one, which was on New Years day. Started off the year with a roof which was something I had never done before.
Was supposed to predawn this but when you wake up in the Walmart parking lot on barely any sleep, mid-daying sounds like a good idea. It was not. Workers searched for us for hours while we hid in a small cabinet. Once they left we photographed the place for a few hours before realizing our exit was sealed, and we ended up climbing out a second story window. Somehow this happened more than once to me in 2022.
This is the American Legion building which was destroyed by a tornado in late 2021. I believe it's been torn down now.
One I've been to many times and it never gets old. Being demolished now.
Extremely cold nights above New York
Triple expansion steam engine
Another place that never gets old
You can never have enough power plants
Wasn't even planning to pop back in here but when you're driving right past you're basically obligated to
More cold nights above New York
More warm nights above the west coast
This hospital was so much fun to wander around
This mine was also fun to wander around
A morgue that never gets old. First went here with my grandma a few years ago before I had my drivers license and not much has changed.
Cold but not freezing cold nights above New York
Remembered how much closer Toronto was to me compared to NYC and ended up making a few "international" trips over the year.
Historic hospital building which I believe is torn down now.
Waited for the snow to start falling before making our way inside this power plant. Despite being windy and freezing cold the falling snow made good cover and hid us from cameras. Our reward was a still heated building.
Somehow I managed to ruin every single film photo from this place. There goes $50
I'm just beginning to realize how often I spend freezing in a power plant all day. This was no different.
Won't say much about this besides that I've never done a worse multi-mile hike out of a spot. At one point we were 15 feet away from a worker who happened to pull up on a near deserted trail to check some gauges.
Nothing too special about this place but we must've spent two hours looking for this room.
My favorite place of all time. In 2022 I crossed my 22nd visit here. Now unfortunately undergoing demolition.
Never experienced worse mosquitos in my life. I said earlier about the worst multi-mile hike into a spot but this was a very close 2nd.
Raccoons had beat us to this power plant.
Just west coast thangsss
More west coast thangssss
And to end off my year in review I'll share this extremely boring spot that would've never made it in this post if it wasn't for the fact we somehow got locked inside by the owner during a 15 minute walk around inside. What started as laughing turned into concern once we had reached two hours without finding another exit. Second story window came in clutch again.
Thanks for reading! Hope you all had a great 2022

Very cool mix of genres here. I have a whole other level of appreciation for explorers who can so casually do it all and get to see such amazing things in each respect. Going to a new city must be so much fun for you. Great set, looking forward to next year's post already.

Wait, the white turbines in series you call pancake plant too? That's what I called it, but I'm pretty sure it's just because I had pancakes afterwards. How did you land on that name?

One of our mutual friends told me that was the nickname a while ago. I asked why, he said he wasn't really sure where it came from. We assumed it was because the aspect ratio of the turbine hall is extremely flat, and phonetically it's vaguely reminiscent of the actual name You might be a trend setter!

Great set! My favorite is by far the sunset over the NYC skyline, but those powerplant photos are a close second. Thanks for sharing!
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

Are they really demolishing that power plant?! Like already started doing it? Wtf.
