Dropping more old stuff. Sorry (not sorry). (Unless you are mad at me... in which case, sorry!!))...

I only saw Greystone once. Pretty much had to spend the whole night inside it alone and it was one of the most beautiful and terrifying experiences of my life

1)

I got into town pretty late, after seven long hours of driving. I think I might have got about an hour of sleep in the back of my tiny Corolla, thinking I'd find somewhere to sleep a little more when I got inside. After a dicey entrance, I wandered for a long time, finding most places either too creepy or too wet. Then I happened on this bedroom

2.)I don't know if this was someone's set up, but it was definitely not for me

3. There was also this couch and it was not for me as well

4. I couldn't handle the living room perfection, albeit a little grimy and I couldn't handle the dull flickering florescent lights at the end of every dark hallway either. Sunrise found me tucked under the parapet on the roof with a gentle rain coming down on whichever side of me happened to be sticking out from under it. I might have fallen asleep for a moment, but the rest of the morning I really felt like I was dreaming

13.

14. I want this to be me so bad

15.

16.

That's it. Like Richard Nickel once said... uh something, something "water and stupid men." and to be clear it was a stupid man who got to this one. Looking at you Christie

Wishing you all the best

Wow. I saw the thread title and said to myself "huh, haven't seen that acronym in a while". Then I saw who posted it and got SUPER excited.

Really really great set dude. I miss this place so much.

yoooooooooooooooooooo

I didn't know I needed this today, but I did.

thank you for posting these. I miss Greystone sooooo much. I went too many times and I never took the time to seriously shoot it. Only have a couple good pics from there over the years.

Keep posting the old stuff!

Really cool set. You can see a lot more of the fine ornamentation in these photos than in other sets I've been able to find, which I appreciate.

I'm told that the tunnels here had a rail cart system for moving laundry and other materials around. Does anyone have photographs of that?

It's so weird to see a place like that with the power on. Great to see it preserved through these photos.

Oh my gosh bro.

So rad. I never went. I'm an idiot. I think I had 1-2 opportunities. But didn't.

Excellent set, I love being reminded of Greystone as some of my best memories are from exploring there. The demolition was probably one of NJ’s greatest architectural loses, however I sometimes ponder what would have become of the Kirkbride if it weren’t demolished; like if Greystone survived the 2020 era of exploring, what would it even look like today?

Greystone holds such a fondness in my mind that it’s almost a defining era of exploring for me , so much so that I sometimes refer to other adventures and locations as being either pre or post-Greystone demolition. Anyway, thanks for the memories and pictures.

I was just getting into exploring when this place was torn down, so I never got around to visiting. I signed a few change.org petitions to get it preserved, but that was the extent of my involvement with it. It's sad to know it's gone, but you sure took some good pictures before that happened.

I don’t believe I’ve seen one, nor remember seeing it. Unless one of the outer buildings that they knocked down early on had it? If it’s true, I’m sad I missed it.

It definitely existed, I remember it being discussed when we were all trying to get the place preserved. I feel like Vacant NJ must have a photo of it.

I definitely missed it then or didn’t shoot it for some reason. Hopefully someone has a picture. I just looked through like 100 shots from there and I don’t seem to have it. I apparently have everything else but that.

He's like a dragon sitting on a hoard of gold, except instead of gold it's decade old Kirkbride sets.

Also I think I recall hearing about the rail cart system from multiple sources, but like you all I have yet to see photos.

Man. Not seeing this place when I potentially had a chance to gives me even more regret than missing out on Hudson.
