Someday I will do more of a writeup on this place. But for now just the skant details. You have probably seen out of context photos of this place floating around, even on places like Pinterest. Once you know the exact location, getting there is still not an easy task. Even some tourist guidebooks talk about the place but provide no practical information on how to get there. It's so remote that you have to dedicate 2 days only for the roundtrip journey alone, not even considering how much time you want to spend on site. The uninhabited village is not connected to any road, and is cut off from the inhabited parts of an island by a steep mountain. The islands can only be visited by ferry which runs only once or twice a day. Finding the correct ferry route is an enigma itself since other ferries go to other places in the island chain with same or similar names. Even finding the obscure bus route to the ferry terminal from the nearest metropolis was not simple. Online information on the transport schedules was less than helpful, even in the local language. The inhabited parts of the island are working fishing villages, but it's so cut off from the world that is it one of those places where the pace of life slows down to a crawl. Just being there is a magical experience itself.

it was a operating fishing village until the 1990's. People mostly connected to the outside world via the piers I guess rather than walking the path over the mountain.

It's wild how remote this is. Awesome pictures though.
