The mines under Tombstone Arizona

Tombstone!

Everyone has heard about the shoot out at OK Corral. The Earps and Doc Holiday had a go at the "Cowboys" including the Clantons and McLaurys. It was a wild town with frequent shootings and lots of Ladies of the Night. That has been the basis of movies since the earliest days of Hollywood.

But most people don't realize that Tombstone was a boom town that supported very rich silver mines. The mines are literally at the edge of town, and some workings extend right under the town. Mine tours are available that range from easy enough for Grandma, to 7 hour advanced explorations. We recently had the opportunity to explore beyond the tour routes.

This is part 1 of a 2 part series, but we still need another trip to explore a new area that we discovered but didn't have time to explore.

I wanna visit these mines. I'm in Arizona and know a couple of really cool abandoned mines. But I know there's plenty more that I've yet to stumble across. Nice video!

When you get down to Tombstone, try to get the intermediate or advanced tour. Those tours are the real deal. The advanced tour is over 3 miles and 7 hours underground. If you get Andrew as your guide, tell him Joanne sent you.
