Abandoned House Close to home.

There is an abandoned house two houses down from mine that I almost didn't know was there until randomly it just popped into my head as a possible exploration, I don't know. I looked it up and it was a beautiful 2200sqft home on google maps in 2012, it was built in 1820. I want to explore it but am rather nervous as I've never explored an abandoned house and it is so close to home. The house in-between is a church being converted to 2 apartments by a couple who rarely comes to remodel. I think I'd get some phenomenal pictures; I went by earlier and the exterior doesn't look bad, however I couldn't find any interior pictures, which kind of makes it better. Any tips or things to look out for?

Have you talked to your neighbors about it? I lived next door to an abandoned house in 1990 and my neighbors who had been inside told me how unsafe it was...

I wouldn't know who to talk to. I'm pretty worried about spiders and pests too (terrified)

took a shot, as I was walking up the steps to the front door, I saw two red blinking lights. They had a camera placed under a proximity light I didn't see. Not great being two houses down but oh well.

In my experience, it's always best to go in through the back (or whichever area is not easily visible to people). I know you mentioned that there's a camera by the front door. I have found that most property owners are pretty lax with security. Almost one seals up abandonments like Fort Nox since it takes a lot of money and time to do. The camera you saw by the front door may very well be the only one. If you still want to go in, I suggest you search the perimeter of the property for another entrance. Keep an eye out for cameras of course. Wires that are clearly newer than the house are good indicators of security nearby. Even if there is more than one camera, it's more than likely that they are only watching obvious entrances like doors and windows. Once you're inside, cameras shouldn't be as much of a problem. Take this with a grain of salt, though. I'm only saying this because interior cameras are a bit less common in my experience. I only saw them once a long time ago, and that was on state owned property. It's not super likely that a private owner would put up interior cameras, but the chances are never zero. As for ways to get in, don't use doors unless you're sure they're not alarmed. Doors are the most obvious entrances, and are therefore the most likely to have some form of security. Try looking for unlocked windows. Basement windows are the best if you can get them open.

I've been scouting it for ways inside, there is basement windows in the front and probably are in the back, one of the things i was looking for when i was originally planning was any extra wires (my house has like 30 cameras so I know what to look for.) I might revisit but im not sure its worth it as I live right by the border and I dont want to be mistaken for a border jumper. I'll do some looking around probably soon as Im super curious to see whats inside. I've been having this itch I need to explore again LOL. Thank you for your feedback.
