Drone Location Scouting

Just purchased a DJI Mavic Mini, I really have been using it just to mess around with but I think I may use it to scout out some locations for hazards and make the decision to go in afterward. I think using a drone could be pretty useful. Has anyone used a drone for urbex? It's pretty nifty, has a good range, and can get into some tight spots.

I think they're great for getting great aerial footage, but shouldn't be considered as a replacement for actually going there.

Also, the ones I've heard (all DJIs also) sounded like mini-lawnmowers and made a lot of attention-getting sound when they were up in the air, unless they're really high up.

I’ve used them before to check the property before going inside. Just to make sure nobody was there. Works pretty well. Just make sure to fly it high enough so you cant hear it.

Yes drones are great for checking out abandoned mines before hiking.

Yes, that's a big part of why I bought one, But then I really didn't use it much. You need a commercial Part 107 license if you want to post the video on YouTube or any of the platforms.

Wow I did not know that! I don’t know much about the license, but are you eventually going to get the license for your YouTube channel or is it not worth it?

I am definitely thinking about it! I really like wide, high angle shots that you can get with drones. Plus they are a lot of fun to fly.
