Hello, everyone, I'm relatively new to Urbex, so I figured I would document the exploration I've done thus far as a photographer! Earlier this year in June, I visited the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center in Concord, NC with a friend of mine. This dilapidated set of multiple buildings stands right next to an active correctional facility. Though the fence urges none to trespass, an opening right in the front gate beckons many to venture within its premises. During the center's operation, it was home to countless medical controversies that often surrounded detention facilities of its time—most abhorrent was the sterilization of many women (along with a handful of men) in the hopes of utilizing eugenics in order to improve the "quality" of the population. Luckily, these attitudes shifted and many of the practices at this school were abandoned along with the buildings themselves. As a photography enthusiast, I decided to create three photo sets that fall under a larger thematic collection with my (now retired) Fujifilm X-T200 camera; this collection is titled "INNERMOST SANCTUM" and the following are the three sets contained within it: HELL'S GATE I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX X — INNERMOST SANCTUM OF THE HEART I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX X — HER WAY OUT OF MY DARKNESS I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX X — MISCELLANEOUS DAUGHTER'S COTTAGE STAIRS TO DECAY DEAD BIRD, SURROUNDED BY GLASS PASSAGE FROM DECAY — Soon, I plan to make a big circuit around the Raleigh, Wake Forest, Cary, and Wilson areas of North Carolina to visit some notable Urbex spots I've recently looked into; I will be providing these photos on my newer Fujifilm X100V. I hope you all enjoy them and feel free to check out my other works as well!

I stand on a building and throw up my arms to the sky; I swallow my pride and admit that it's not always best to understand the reasons why. |
