"Ed and Bertha Briney’s unoccupied farmhouse was reportedly broken into 50 times over 10 years. They put up “No Trespassing” signs, repeatedly complained to sheriffs in two different counties, nailed doors shut, and boarded up windows – but nothing worked. So they decided to try something else."

Several stories within, from traps in farmhouses to stores, and relevant discussion on private property rights vs human life.

The podcast is always a good listen but this episode would be of particular interest for UE folx.

What do you think? Do you ever expect man-traps or have your found them?

Very interesting topic.

I will never forget the video posted on Facebook a few years ago of some people who bought a foreclosed abandoned property finding a booby trap on the stairs - a knife attached to a crutch suspended above the staircase attached to a tripwire which when tripped sent the crutch and knife pivoting downwards right at neck level, had they not spotted it beforehand it would have been an instant death.

I can't be bothered to go looking for it right now, but I remember seeing a thread on booby traps here on UER several years ago that had a few. One of the notable ones was a piano wire snare set up to pull taut around the wrist of anyone who reached through the hole in a window to open an adjacent door from the inside, complete with a cinderblock counterweight to make it so that the more the ensnared person struggled to escape the deeper the wire would cut. Another notable trap was a nailboard concealed sharp-side up beneath an open window as some form of poor man's punji pit. Both were as creative as they were vicious.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

I found the thread of the window boobytrap that you mentioned. I hope this is helpful.

I will stop procrastinating tomorrow...
