Parking in rural areas

Hey UER, I've been doing urban explores for a while now but I'm very new to rural stuff, and I came across a really sick spot I want to check out. However, I'm deathly afraid of my car getting towed while exploring, and the spot in question is in a rural farmland area. Do you guys got any tips or tricks?

Exactly what the others had said just ride a bike out there. Better stealth too since they won’t even know you’re there if you stash / take the bike with you.

It probably wouldn't fool the immediate locals who know everyone in the area, but driving through rural areas it seems like you could blend in pretty well for the casuals by parking right out in the open, facing out, with a big "FOR SALE" sign in the window.

Put your phone number on the sign if you want to be contactable (say, for someone who was thinking of towing your car) or off by one digit if you don't want to give the cops/sheriff your direct line.

Untested, but I've considered it a few times.

1. Make sure you have a tire pump, let the air out of a tire visible from the road. Whoops, You had a flat tire and had to leave it there!

2. Park at the nearest business, or park, or church, or rest stop or something with a large enough lot that you won't be noticed, and then hike/bike in. Walking on roads in rural areas might make you more conspicuous, so go overland thru the bushes. Plot out a few bushwacking routes on google earth first. Follow drainage ditches and treelines.

3. Take the bus/train to a stop as close as you can get and then do idea #2 (of course nearly impossible if we are talking about North America.)

4. Park at a place people park at for "outdoors" activities like fishing at the river, hunting, sex, cruising, and do #2.

I've done all of these except for #1.

1 is an old contractor trick usually for big cities to avoid tickets. It works though.

I've had a few spots that I was not able to park near. If that happens I will typically park in the nearest parking lot or grocery store lot. Somewhere I know I wont get towed If I leave it there for a few hours. Then Ill walk to my spot. I've walked upwards of 2 miles from my car to get to the spot I wanna explore. So Id say just find the closest parking lot and grab a water bottle and walk. No risk there.

i like this, a lot! i've considered putting a note on my wiper that said "oops, ran out of gas, be back in 30!" with my google voice number if i'm absolutely not supposed to be there.

30...minutes? hours? days? years? who knows.

you have just begun reading the sentence you just finished reading.
