Earlier today I was exploring an abandoned copper mine in Plumas County California and I thought I would share it with you all. (It's my first time doing photos so if I messed it up please yell at me)
The mine was started in 1904 and active mining took place from 1915 to 1941. After the closure of the mine acid mine drainage as well as heavy metals leaked into the surrounding forest. The mine still had operations going until 1997 (processing I think) the mine discharge now goes into a settling pond before entering a nearby creek and from online research, the PH of the pond varies from 2.5 to 5.
This Photo is of what I believe to be a hospital for the mine.
