Draining Underneath a Neighborhood

My friend and I decided to explore some of the drains underneath the neighborhood we live in that we had not yet explored.

First we decided to explore a larger drain with a diameter of 4 feet. Some pictures of the highlights are included below.

The first "major" thing we found was a rather large rock in the middle of the drain. It was roughly the size of a pomelo, and due to this we decided to call it "Fatty McLumps". We later started calling the drain the Fatty Mclumps Drain.

Here is a picture of the glorious wall scissors. They were placed into the crack in the wall so that they would not further rust away.

The next thing we found was the pipe that became known as "that fucker" due to the repeated banged heads on it.

When we reached the other end of the drain, we found a tattered piece of plastic stating what we believed to be quite true. This was in fact a rather "lit" drain.

Later, due to the other drain we were originally planning on exploring being observed, we made a choice we would soon regret. We chose to explore an extremely narrow drain with a diameter of about 3 feet. In 2020 this had been the first drain I had ever entered, and now we wanted to get to the end of it.

The entrance to it was about 3 feet off the ground and here we slid in. Until the first grate we were having quite a good time. However, immediately after there was quite a bit of water. We slowly continued on until the next manhole about 200 feet down. I decided to place a pencil on top of the manhole to see where it was when we exited.

I decided to head down about 15 feet to another nearby manhole, hoping that there would be an entrance to wider tunnels. Much to my chagrin, it just branched into 2 even smaller tunnels that could not be explored. It was here that I took a picture and turned back. The picture is below.

Here I was sitting for a few minutes before we returned.

The return, while not quite as time consuming, still was quite tedious and watery. Due to it being downhill, we managed to roll through at a quicker pace. In the end we exited with the knowledge not to return to this type of drain. It was definitely an example of Type 2 Fun, miserable while doing it, but amazing afterwards

I will stop procrastinating tomorrow...

That's awesome, I wonder if the writing in Spanish saying "they're all elbows" was trying to signal that the drains were narrow all the way through.

Nice! Seems like drains are the most consistently available thing to explore in Denver these days, and Denver sure does have some nice ones.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

For the past few months the neighborhood has employed some top quality drain protection on one of the drains.

I am not sure we will ever be able to get past this...
