Perhaps the title is a little click-baity, but yesterday I replaced and sold my prized camera that I've been exploring with for over 11 years. I bought my Canon 5D MKII in late September, of 2010. I took a risk on buying a camera quite a bit over my budget, but I never once looked back. It has served me well and worked flawlessly, capturing the majority of my prized and most well known photographs. My 5D has been to 10 different countries, endured the heat of the desert and the brutal cold of Northern Alberta, been dropped, kicked, rained on, snowed on and covered in all kinds of unsanitary abandoned... spores. It's never once faltered. This camera has also provided me with a little fame through stock photography. I owe nearly all of my most well-known photos to this camera, which has paid for itself several times over. In the time since I purchased it, I met my wife, got married, moved across the country, had a kid, moved across the country again, started my career, and had another kid. It's been to hundreds of abandoned places. I have so, so many good memories with it that it's been tough to sell. I seriously considered just keeping it, but I know that I wouldn't have a use for it anymore, and would love to pass it on to another photographer just starting out. Here's a collection of my favourite UE photos, all taken with my old 5D MKII. It's amazing reflecting on all that's happened since I've owned it! First photo ever taken with it, Oct 1, 2010

What did I replace my old camera with? I now am using a Canon 5DSr, and am seriously itching to take it out on it's first explore. Thanks for viewing.

Awesome stuff. I too had the exact same feelings when I eventually bought myself a new Canon 80D in 2018, which replaced the battered and bashed 550D I had been using since I bought it new in 2011. The 550D pretty much became a part of me, it was a near enough indestructible tank which was dropped, knocked off tripods, rained on, snowed on, covered in mud and all sorts of other crap and yet it still works to this day. It never put a foot wrong whilst my various friends Nikons and other cameras all developed faults or had issues, which reinforced in my mind that I will only choose to own Canon stuff!

You have so many incredible photos. Well done. That's a long time to have a camera!
What has replaced it?

The 5D is an amazing camera. When I studied, I got to borrow my school's cameras sometimes and took way better photos than in later years with my 1000D. I wish I could have afforded one myself. Wonderful shots by the way!

I felt the same way about getting rid of my last two vehicles, haha. They were integral parts of many of the coolest things I've done. I still own my first SLR (a Canon F-1 35mm), which is the camera I used to shoot with and started exploring with, but a few years ago it broke and was determined to be un-fixable. So it just sits on a shelf Congrats on the new camera and I hope it's as good as the last!

Amazing shots! Its poetic how many memories become connected to one's camera, I've been using the Canon rebel t6 since I started 6 years ago, and I've been wanting to upgrade but its crazy to just think about how much I've been through with it, I can't imagine using anything else

I still got my MKII, bought it used almost seven years ago now and going strong. Nothing wrong with an upgrade though! Hope the next ten years are even better for ya
