This shipping container development was actually a sort of failed entertainment and commercial district which is part of a much larger new residential district.

Thanks for sharing your photos!

I've always liked the idea of shipping containers as the basis of housing. Long before it was trendy, I was sketching home plans using them as the building blocks. It was a fun exercise. Although there are some inherent issues with the containers, they still provide a very cost effective starting point. I think the concept of pre-fabbed 'foundations' with all of the utilities roughed in could actually make them much more practical.

I'd love if it was a normal thing to build ones dream home inside a shipping container. And then if you move anywhere in world, you can just have your home shipped there and then placed in a Ready Player One style superstructure.

There was a period where shipping containers were really popular over here. There was a really widespread chain of juice shops built in shipping containers (or at least trying to look like they were), and a few shopping malls were built out of them. Then it just stopped.

That's really cool, and I don't think I've ever seen anything like that posted to UER before. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Super cool! I always wanted to build a little studio in one of these in my back yard.
