Oh, UER. Long may it live. From meeting Budda and Trap for the first time in 2011, to getting to know fellow explorers at many VCXes after that, to meeting my good friend Skye_Ann through AvChat years ago, and getting to know countless faces, places and people along the way, this site has made an indelible mark on my life. Honestly don't know where I'd be without it.
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |

Phew, glad to see the two of you still here - ensures I am not the oldest! We never did that Haikyo Tour of Japan, and sorry to say that fune has sailed. There are still a few places to discover, but the large-scale stuff (due to a combination of global focus and local English instructor trashings) has been severely limited. Gulliver's, Greenland, countless others, and Nakagin just this last week, all gone... Hashima is still there though, and even that due to the public tours is largely inaccessible as an explore - which could be argued is a good thing, as its listing will keep it in some state for the future. For old times sake (taken recently):

Never imagined spending more than half of my life on some Internet forum. What a good half-of-a-life it has been.

When I first found UER, i thought I was late to the party. Now I have been on here 13 of those 20 years which blows my mind. Via UER I discovered the UEing wasn't just something me and a few internet weirdos like to do but an outlined and structured hobby with it's own norms, ethics and politics. I also met lots of new people that I would never have been connected with otherwise. I feel like that is a lost feature of the internet. It's probably been 5 years since the last time I met a new person IRL who is interested in UE.
