This place was a complete surprise to me. I found a small town on my map, and according to the satellite view, it looked like a small group of older buildings might be of interest within the down. While passing through on the way to some other location, I decided to drive through the town. That's when I found these buildings, which were much more interesting than my original destination. I was excited to have stumbled upon an abandoned school and a nearby former teacher's house in the woods beside it. The school closed in the 80's. Prior to that it was a two classroom schoolhouse with residence for one teacher in the upstairs, and the nearby house for the other teacher. A portion of the classroom was also modified into a bedroom, but I am not sure if that was during or after the school's operation. With former residential schools in the neighbouring communities, I am curious of the complete history of this place, and am searching for more info.

Quaint location with a rich background to it. Tasteful photography brings to mind the tales of history that could be learned from this place. If only walls could talk. In photo 1 you can just imagine a mother rocking her child in that chair. If I didn’t know better, I’d assume photo 3 to be aboard a ship. Great explore. Thank you for sharing. Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah |

A teacher's residence upstairs? Never heard of that before, very interesting. And that's a curious little crawlspace under the stairs.

I can't believe someone else found this place! I stumbled across it completely by accident last year. We returned a month or so ago so I could reshoot some stuff, but a couple has since bought the property. We stopped to talk to them and they said they were unsure of what they were going to do with the schoolhouse, whether they would fix it up or demolish it. They wouldn't let us look around though. We stopped in the small residence on the property, and the dresser and tiny rocking chair are gone.

Given the remote randomness of where it's located, I'm equally impressed that someone else knows about it! I sent you a PM
