Is there a way to pop manhole covers that are stuck tight (rusted in place, welded, concrete underneath)? I pop a lot of manhole covers in St.Paul and I've found several manhole covers that have concrete underneath the cover, making the covers very heavy.

To loosen a rusted lid bringing a rubber mallet along. Or if you don't want to carry one around, I have seen large rocks used too.

As for heavy lids, anything that will give you better leverage (crowbars etc.) will help immensely.

Thanks for the help. I know of a manhole cover that has concrete underneath it. Do you think sometime soon you and I can get some people together to get this concrete lid off so we can swap it out for a grate (I'll explain it privately LOL)? What do you think?

Thanks. I also look forward to meeting new friends to explore storm drains and sewers with me. I still have your number too.

Is it ok to post drain pictures if I start a new thread and on the rookie forum? The reason I asked is because I saw a post where someone got banned for posting on the rookie forum but I didn't understand what they were talking about. If yes, please let me know so I can post some of many drain pictures on here sometime.

Banned for posting in the rookie forum? I can't imagine what that was about. Can you show me? Possibly a spammer.

You're welcome to share your drain photos in the photography forum. The rookie forum is for questions and advice. If you want advice on your photography, that's what the photo critiques forum is for.

In addition to what Steed said you could also post in the Great Lakes region since that's where we are.

Here's the thread where I saw "BANNED FOR POSTING ON THE ROOKIE FORUM". It's on "TIPS FOR HIDING IN THE ROOKIE FORUM". Hope that helps. Please let me know if you found it and let me know what you thought. I just want to make sure I'm doing things right. Thanks for the help. I hope I get to meet you sometime.
