Heyo! I visited a pretty huge hospital in New Jersey. My first hospital to be honest. It only took up a block in the city, but after finding a way in boy was this thing huge. The first hour we were fascinated by literally everything and looked at very corner of each room along the endless hallway. Just like we usually do when we enter something decaying. But as time passed I understood there was no way we can even casually walk all the halls of this thing. We spent around 6 hours total, and we didn't even get to look at everything we wanted to, let alone stopping to take photos and set up compositions. Apart from the place being HUGE, it was a complete maze. Not so fun for those lacking spatial awareness ahaha.
This is a pretty popular hospital in New Jersey, and is not in a good neighborhood. Despite that, graffiti is minimal, which surprised me. But what saddened me was how plumbing was ripped out of walls, breakers torn from the boxes, water dispensers stolen, etc. As I understand, people salvaged what they thought they could flip to make some money. It's a bit of an awkward feeling, seeing the place as a time capsule full of history as we explorers do, while understanding that others see it is as an opportunity to tear it apart and sell whatever they could.
Coming home I was disappointed to see that I haven't taken enough photos. So I will for sure come back and photograph everything I can! Here are just a few.
The good stuff like the hospitals equipment, libraries, pharmacy, and morgue were unfortunately impossible to take photos of since it was pitch black in there. I only have some iphone photos of those.
