I made my trip out to the old sanitorium turned hospital on a nice snowy day. The site really is something else and the fact you don't have to worry about getting arrested makes it even better. Spending nine hours on site still leaves quite a bit unseen so I may have to return again. Without further Ado.
And some pics with a 1/3 scale fashion doll

Great photos! Love the doll too. Is that basketball just balanced on the rim like that?

Thank you. The basketball photo was done with speedlights to freeze the ball. I threw it with one hand and had a remote shutter release in the other. The lighting was very dark in all the buildings so I had to use a light to bring it up. Eight of the photos above use artificial lighting.

Damn dude, that's some excellent photography. You have a knack for angles! The anime doll makes for some creative shots.

Thank you, she's really what brought me back into photography the past two years. It's nice having a model who can stand perfectly still

Wow, this place looks nearly untouched, nice find! Loving the depth and compression in some of your shots. It's not often that people use longer focal lengths on urbex photography, definitely gives your pictures a unique feel. Same with the doll, which feels intriguingly out of place.

It definitely gives a nice claustrophobic feeling. I hadn't tried using a tele for urbex before this trip, it was while walking around with a 10-24 and feeling all these shots I was missing that made me switch to a 55-200. I'll definitely be doing that more in the future, as well as bringing the doll along too.

Sharp laser-focused shots with the dolls.

Stellar photography, thanks for sharing! I'll be starting my explore in about 14 hours, I'm very excited! Love the shots with the doll, and the razor wire pic...and great work on the basketball shot. 🙂

Very nice stuff. I went for the first time in March and it was a lot of fun. Spent a whole weekend myself and probably saw 70% of it. I felt like there were rooms I could spent a whole hour+ in. I definitely plan on going back.
Right there in the glove box, if you should look You'll find 40 parking tickets and a copy of the Good Book Don't bother looking, you'll never find me, I'm starting from scratch and leaving trouble behind me |
