I'm looking to explore some abandoned buildings in Eastern Massachusetts. I'm mainly looking for abandoned Hospitals, warehouses, factories or other big facilities. And if you could give me some tips for how to enter the buildings and how to avoid security, that would be great too.

Hospitals are easy, not that many get built so you can look in old city archives to find where they are/were. Factories can be spotted on Google Earth by looking for the decaying roofs/parking lots and a lack of vehicles. As far as entering though? Just do some recon and find a door/hole to get in. Generally the better the condition and the cooler the location, the more likely it is there will be security/alarms/cameras. Just be cautious and observant.

It's been getting better due to a general shift in attitude and certain people getting banned, but yeah. I think part of the reason this place isn't as active as it used to be is the tendency to gatekeep and chase off new people. Which is understandable, to an extent. Most folks these days probably get into the hobby through instagram/facebook/youtube explorers, bringing with them a number of poor habits and expectations that provoke a hostile reaction from a community like this.
Still, this thread is a huge improvement on the sea of sarcastic non-answers to questions new users used to get.

Forums like this and others are dinosaurs now in the social media age - most 'newbies' getting into it through Instagram, Youtube or dare I even say the word 'Tiktok' who are used to the instant social media gratification seem to expect to be told instantly where places are if they aren't outright shown in the videos and the like. Then when they come up against hostility and closed doors on forums like these full of seasoned people who've been doing it for many years, can't understand why they don't get told where things are.
At least that's my own take on it, being one of the old dinosaurs who has been on forums such as this for well over a decade now.

Agreed. Some gatekeeping is a necessity, being a dick is not. I think this threat set the right tone. Some people just don't know that there is a certain way to conduct yourself and need to be pointed in the right direction, we don't want to turn them away by biting their heads off the first time they post.

(sorry, I couldn't resist one chipping in with one of of those sarcastic non-answers. I remember when I first joined all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed way back when....learned real quick the right way and the wrong way to ask for location info haha!)

I thought it was pretty cool. The interior is pretty much untouched. Everything has been left in place. Hell, the refrigerator even still runs.

I just learned that the house is probably owned by the town's chief of police, who may live right next door to the site. Going in through the window puts you in plain sight for a few moments. Be really careful if you go there. The fact that the chief of police owns the place ups the stakes.

The place has been boarded up around back. There's a new door, and new locks have been installed on the windows. It's not fully locked down, but I'm not going back there. I last went a few weeks ago, and I ended up having to hide in tall grass for around an hour because the owner, who lives right next door, could sense my presence or something. There isn't even a fence separating the two houses.
All in all, the place is incredible. It's completely untouched, and the electricity is still on. However, the chief of police owns the place and lives right next door. Don't go there unless you have a death wish.

You had some helpful suggestions....
but everyone now uses google for everything and it's not that hard to find something baited out online. back when this site started you had to talk to people and actually get off yer duff and walk and drive around. Before I found this site like 17 years ago I used to ask people about old factories. Found a huge open complex this way that somehow didn't get whored out.
