Posted by Emperor Wang Interesting structure. Is that an old canalized creek? Around these parts (Canada) we tend to put them entirely underground. Which is kinda sad.
Yeah, they like their canals in Ballarat. Ballarat is an old gold mining town and once had more money than the capital, Melbourne, so they have a lot of expensive bluestone drains.
I just shot a new video there but won't be editing it for awhile yet.
Here's one I shot more than 20 years ago that show the canals.
Nice vids, Dougo. NGCD & Ballarat darkie are quite different from each other, yet so cool in their own way!
I loved the pillar room with the guestbook in NGCD, it's a perfect spot to sit down, chill and have some beers.
What I liked about Ballarat was the sneaky experience, being able to hear and see people on the street above without being seen. I remember we entered from where we parked our car and exited real close to a thrift shop where we bought some suits for clannies. I was also very impressed by all the eroded stones on the floor of this drain:

Thanks. Nearly got the Ballarat finished.
You were at The Pillars for the 30th Anniversary right? That was a good time

Hope you're OK with me doing this. It's easy to remove sections now on YouTube so let me know if you want it removed.
