Hey guys! I came across older videos I had of my friend and I checking out an abandoned residence. This residence was in an incredibly isolated microcosm within a larger, normal residential neighborhood. This particular house, however, was practically isolated from all their neighbors by the means of incredibly thick shrubbery and one of the biggest messes I've ever seen with my own eyes. Here are two brief videos of it: https://youtu.be/L64-ba6En0Q https://youtu.be/nT6zKsYq0o4 The main discussion question I wanted to ask is, what in the world do you guys think this was? I'm inclined to say tweaker/druggie den but those typically have a very distinct smell tied to them and the only thing I smelled was copious amounts of mold. The rear balcony door was boarded up due to being shattered but I cannot phathon what called for such a substantial mess inside

I've seen houses a lot like what you describe. In the middle of a residential area, but abandoned and a complete mess on the inside. I've never known exactly who was living there, but I typically assume local vagrants. They usually aren't malicious or drug addicts, they just leave a mess.

Thats really curious. It looked almost fully furnished with everything left behind, which is weird for being close to other active houses. Maybe theres some local lore about it lol... is it haunted?
but I typically assume local vagrants. They usually aren't malicious or drug addicts, they just leave a mess. |
Thats true too, could just be some messy people looking for rest for the night, but that still wouldnt explain how everything looks left behind. IDK

Yeah, local vandals makes sense. Surprised they didn't tag the place up though, seems as if they just went through everything looking for something of value and left. Only significant thing I found was a gold states medal for swimming which piqued my interest since I swam in HS.

Does the place fit in with the rest of the houses, or is it one of those cases where the person refused to sell and they built a whole neighborhood around it?

Eminent domain?
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |
|
I think eminent domain is when it still gets taken? More holdout/nail house.

Other than being in a secluded place it looks like any other house in the neighborhood. Some of the things found inside dated to only a couple years ago so I don't think it could be that.

Squatters that were evicted.

Might have been a rental property. I've heard from my property manager that people have been abandoning rentals a lot more frequently since covid started. Or the property owners died/put in long term care homes which still leaves the property rights in their name. I've seen it before, it can take a while for the proper systems to catch up if at all. ya know legal stuff - especially county level.
