Hey guys I headed over to the old chinook learning center or viscount Bennett school to take a look at the security situation and I have to say that place is sealed up tight but I think if you can get inside everything is still there. The security measures on the outside are extensive with cameras around the property and a security guard that sits in a car in the back parking lot in the time I was there the car did not move but it was not long at all so I might have just been there in between the rounds. all the windows on the outside of the school are boarded and the sun visors above them have barbed wire around them but the skylight is open and I think some of the windows in the courtyard are uncovered but the easiest way to get in to the courtyard is in view of the security car so that way not doable unless you want to get caught. I think there are some weak parts where it’s possible to get in but I know that I can’t really discuss that here on the forum but I just wanted to give an update on that place in case anyone is interested in heading over there. Also there was a sign on the grass next to the school that says there is going to be an online meeting and an in person meeting about the redevelopment of the school so I’ll attach the photo I took of the sign in case anyone wants to see the meetings. I just realized the image quality is ass so I’ll just type what it says. The online meeting is November 29th 6-8 pm and the in person event is the next day from 5-8pm both of the events can be registered at 2501richmond .com Edit: I was driving past the building and the security car was driving around the property

Anyone have any recommendations on a good flashlight that’s not too expensive? ~$40 also I’m thinking about checking out the old Royal Canadian legion sometime soon. Anyone know anything about it? Security, squatters things like that (mostly worried about squatters because they’re a pain in the ass). Looks likes there’s basically no security from the street view from July this year but would be nice to have any info from someone who’s been. Also if you’re not comfortable sharing with me I understand and I’m fine with that and respect that.

The legion is pretty rough... there was a demolition order given to the owner earlier this month (not sure if it has been fulfilled). There also has been a history of squatters and other bad stuff.

thanks for the info! I didn't know that there was a demolition order for the place might still check it out even just to see if it's still there or what's going on with the demolition. also, I'm not surprised that there have been squatters judging by the deterioration of the building over the years.

There are some other cool buildings in that area too, definitely worth checking out.

BREAKING NEWS the YWCA building has been demolished today. I was driving past and it was getting taken down. As of posting there is still a bit left but it will most likely be gone by the end of the day This is where the building was 51.0486293, -114.0564268

Posted by UrbanInvicta Well, there was an old magnesium powerplant in Aldersyde, it was so sick, but I went back to find they have tried (and failed) to keep us out by blocking the doors. I mostly hit cranes downtown and construction buildings, because Alberta has next to no abandoned places left. I do know of 1 single abandoned house on the bow river left, it's kinda small and smells of shit

You mean this magnesium plant?

Posted by Cars56 Hello fellow explorers, Have any of you guys heard anything about the Inglewood Brewery? Thing has been abandoned for like 20 years and I was wondering if anybody has gotten in or tried?

The industrial park around Magcan has been getting more and more active. They used portions of the building to store parts while the Calgary Energy center was under construction.
Molson's is a mix of very active storage facility, and ceiling-falling-in abandoned.
