This location was something of a staple around here. Just something simple, something sweet. Something ever evolving. A meeting place of all the schools and crews and creatures of our craft. A crossroads between urbexers, street writers, rail fans, crust punks, amateur photographers, scrappers and more - all down at Fulton Gasworks. Like everything else on the East End, it is making way for new development. I read somewhere they're hoping to put in commercial space there. Rumor has it they saved the blue "FULTON" sign and hope to install it in the new development. The historic gasometer is currently being dismantled and has promises of being reassembled somewhere separate for display. I can't quite bring myself to get over there and see the carnage. I'm slightly bitter about it - even though Fulton was one of those "busted" locations, it's hard to see it go on top of everything else in the last couple of years. Everything is temporary, is what I've heard.
RIP Fulton Gasworks and Childhood Memories.

Everything is temporary. That's why we have to experience it before it disappears. Thanks for sharing your great memories and images.

That's sad to see it go. One of the earlier spots I was able to explore.

I always loved driving by and seeing the place, never got to go in though. Rip

Always enjoyed my trips there. Is it definitely gone now?

Went down there today. Here's where they're at.
Previously (2020)
Gasometer is down. Interested to find out if I ever see it again. Good news too, looks like they may be keeping the Fulton Sign. Can't say for sure, but someone ripped it out.

That's a big building. I could have fun in there for days! It's always sad to see a long-standing spot disappear. There was a building near me that I guess I took for granted because it was abandoned for 3 or 4 decades. But eventually someone bought up the land and will probably turn it into condos. I see it as motivation to explore a little harder and find a new place.
