Spanish Mini Golf Madness

I recently travelled to the southern coast of Spain for a week in order to perform best man duties for a friend of mine's wedding. The week wasn't what you'd call an entirely relaxing 'holiday' as such as most of it was spent running around trying to arrange and sort stuff for the wedding, and with the groom having picked up some sort of (thankfully non-contagious) stomach bug and feeling totally dreadful, it was even more stressful than I expected. The wedding itself though went very well, in a beautiful cove overlooking the sea, which was lovely.

Somehow in amongst all the running around I managed to slip away for a couple of hours exploring one morning. I'd been looking around the area on Google Maps before leaving and had pinned a number of locations of potential interest, and managed to check out a couple. The first one was an abandoned leisure club, complete with a full 18-hole miniature golf course on the property. It was sat on a narrow strip of land between the main road that runs the length of that area of coastline and a large residential development, and looked to have been closed a long time - like with a lot of Spanish abandonments the taggers move in exceptionally quickly so it's very rare to find something totally untouched.

After the club closed the land out back became home to a number of large advertising billboards, as the land is in a prime spot for visibility the owners must be getting a good amount of money in rent which means they are in no rush to develop the land.

The other bonus is now I can add another country to the list of places I've explored in!

Towards the end of the visit it started to rain pretty heavily, which with it being so warm and humid was a quite refreshing experience, nevertheless we made our way back to car and headed off to elsewhere.

Cool place, the overgrowth on the outdoor structures makes it look like ancient ruins.
