Lincoln Heights Jail Los Angeles- August 2021

Me and UER member Rapturous went to explore the Lincoln Heights Jail in August. To enter, we found a hole in a board with another board covering it that was wedged shut with a 2x4. We pulled the 2x4 away and gained entry. After hearing yelling from below we tried to get out but found the board was wedged shut from the outside, we ran up to the 3rd story the lowest one with windows that were accessible and found a skinny rope that was tied up, we almost used this to get down the 30 foot or so drop but I got sketched out. Instead we dropped out of a window onto a ledge that is pictured. This still was a good 18 foot drop so we sat there and I tried to find a good way to get down. Security eventually found us and there was no way to get back into the building as the window we jumped out of was 8 feet above the ledge and I was sketched out about jumping down there was no hand holds and the wood on the edge of the ledge was rotted. Security eventually called the fire department who put up a ladder . We got down and dipped before one time showed up.

That sounds like an intense situation. Glad you all made it out of that, I wonder why they didn't have the po's come with the fire department? Good times and good find. I haven't been as active as I should be with this kind of thing.

Educated Guess: LAPD or LASO were requested at the time FD was dispatched, but were busy on higher-priority calls (a drunk passed-out on a sidewalk would be a higher-priority call for LE, because it could be someone who was just shot & the criminal is still around). Depending on the situation, sometimes FD/EMS will choose to "stage" (wait for police to show up & declare the scene safe enough for fire/EMS to approach), other times, FD/EMS will decide the situation is likely safe enough to handle without PD, *or* sometimes they'll decide that while they're prefer LE to check the incident out first & be there to provide safety & security for FD/EMS, they can't/don't want to just sit-around for 20 or 30 minutes until a LE unit is finally clear of their prior call & can be dispatched to the one FD/EMS is staging at!

It's scary at how overwhelmed/under-staffed a lot of LEAs are for most of the day & night, and it sucks for FD/EMS because they want to get there fast & help, but policy mandates them to wait for LE to get there first & then clear FD/EMS to approach. FD/EMS gets blamed for the long delay in arrival by the public...

the Lincoln jail probably has such a high rep of Graff artist and scrappers breaking in they probably don't even bother driving by it anymore. if you were on the roof and the sheriff helicopter spots you they just circle a few times to scare ya and then fly off

Thinking about visiting here sometime... Any tips for exploring or more info on entrances?

I'd rather have one year of memories than twenty years of none
