Ammonia Afoot

In Detroit just out of downtown is a thick warehouse called "Grand Trunk Warehouse & Cold Storage" The entire top half is sealed off from the outside, making it completely dark on the upper floors.
This building had been under some sort of "Renovation" or something by arte express, but the company basically went under in Detroit, so it's a walk in.

The bottom floor seems to be the tallest in these warehouses, as it is where the loading is done

These elevators here caught my eye

I don't know what caused this singular gaping hole into the basement but it was a bit annoying to walk around the stairwell to get to the other side

Something caught fire.

The powerhouse building was just one big empty room. A very good echo chamber.

And the boilers were tucked away in the basement.

There were warning signs for ammonia at the basement of the stairs, a warning sign I've never read before, it's used in refrigeration so I'm not surprised it's in a "Cold storage" warehouse

Just like Boblo Terminal, this warehouse has a neat water-tower built on the roof. I had to climb through four floors of pitch black rooms to reach the top. Probably some insulation thing. Always bring your flashlight

I might have to add this one to the list next time I'm in the area. Thanks for taking us with you.

I can't be absolutely sure, but I THINK this was the building where an explorer died a couple-three years ago from falling down an elevator shaft. If I'm wrong, will someone please correct me ?

I can't find the article in my archives, but I'm PRETTY sure this was the place.

Here's an article.

He was playing hide and seek in the early hours of the morning.

This is why I have a self-imposed rule that I follow when in buildings like these. If I'm looking at my phone I stop moving. Would hate the absent-mindedly be checking some dumb comment aaaaaaaaaaand DEAD.

Be safe urban explorers.

I wouldn't be surprised, it looks pretty dangerous, especially with lack of light in higher floors.
