The web page above takes you to a great GIS map of major & minor DERP-FUDS sites around the USA.

The US Army Corps of Engineers Defense Environmental restoration program - Formerly Used Defense Sites ("DERP-FUDS") is responsible for the evaluation & cleanup of all property that was under DOD control (meaning both DOD-owned as well as leased or otherwise used) & became surplus prior to 1986. Due to the number of small and large sites around the country and the expenses involved in properly remediating them, it's been an on-going effort for decades, and especially with some large sites, the efforts are piecemeal a certain budget is allocated each year to do different problem (such as unexploded ordnance) or different parcel of a site. *IF* the site was sold-off and the contaminated structure or area was beneficially re-used, the responsibility for environmental cleanup belongs to the person or business that was using the property, not USACE DERP-FUDS, so the site may not show-up on the above GIS map.

Understand that USACE DERP-FUDS doesn't have a broad historical interest in the site, it's just to determine that the property was indeed used by DOD, disposed-of before 1986, and then a basic understanding of what the DOD did with the property, in order to determine what environmental contaminants -- toxic materials, live ordnance, etc. may remain, and where they may be, so don't expect a lot of detailed & accurate overall information about a site.

US military site cleanup is a highly politicised thing in Korea, and I've succeeded in finding places to explore from various data, including resources like yours, news reporting, and online maps.

Pretty much everything near me is gone, some of it for over 75 years. But there's gotta be some good stuff in there.
