I've been heavy into searching out abandoned vehicles in what I would call Central-Southern Ontario. The majority of those that I've found have been GM trucks, which were all made in Oshawa. My good friend is a GM trained technician and is super brand loyal. He has helped me with my cars over the last 10+ years and saved me a pile of money. So I decided to make him something unique for his home shop. I'm super new to welding but I thought this would be a great way to increase my skills. Everything I used was upcycled from my grandfather's barn. My welds weren't as tight as they could have been when I first started but they did get better. Here is the finished product:
They are in order from oldest to newest based on my best efforts to identify them. I was able to get the VIN's on most but not all.
1) '41 to '47 GMC 1.5 Ton Dually
2) '49 Chevy
3) '49 Chevy 3/4 ton
4) '52 Chevy 3/4 ton
5) '54 Chevy Panel Truck
6) '55-'59 GMC 1/2 ton
7+8) '58 Chevy Apache
9) '55 to '56 GMC 2 Ton Chassis Cab Dually
10) '59 Chevy Viking 40 1.5 Ton
11) '60 to '61 GMC 1/2 ton
12) '62 Chevy C50 Dually 1.5 Ton
13) '66 Chevy C20 3/4 Ton
14) '64 to '66 GMC 1/2 Ton V6
15) '61 Chevy 1/2 Ton
16) '67 GMC 1/2 Ton
17) '67 GMC 1/2 Ton V8
18) '67 Chevy 1/2 Ton
19) '67 GMC 1/2 Ton
20) '70 GMC 3500 (1 Ton)
21) '72 Chevy 1/2 Ton
22) '73 to '74 2500 Super Custom
23) '83 to '84 Chevy / '81 to '82 GMC
24) '88 to '91 Chevy C1500
Finding these trucks was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy!

2 and 12 and 13 catch my eye. Like your frame-work on the picture montage. Keep your nose to the ground and find more for us to see. Doing good here.

Yes, those shots were with my new phone and the quality is noticeable for sure. Many of the other shots were when I first started out and the excitement of finding something cool got in the way of focusing on the photography. I'm a little better but I still get giddy when I find something cool. Thank you for the comment!

Guys and Gals, Hello!

I'm a newbie in welding too Nice idea with abandoned cars, I'm trying now to learn how to weld ladders, thanks God my father is mad about welding and he is ready to help anytime. Currently I have Hobart 145. Btw, faced an annoying problem while searching where to buy a welder without breaking a bank, did you have that?

Cool idea, it looks good I'm a welder by trade for the last 15 years.

heeeey, I think I gotta recommend you smth really cool to develop your skills Well, I remember time when I needed to weld a ladder, but my welder was awful, worn out and it was impossible to work with. I decided to buy a new instrument, surfed internet and understood, that at most sites instruments are overpriced, you literally have to break a bank to afford a new high quality welder. Fortunately, i came across the cool guys who helped me to choose a welder that has become my favorite since I've started to learn welding. That is a Hobart Handler 140. That is a BEST WELDER EVER!
