Nice shots, always thought this place in more ruins than what your pics show. Sweet
"What is your favorite thing about Belchertown?" "...the history, man" |

Great shots, btw are these pictures old? I may be just thinking of a different location but this seems much more intact then I thought it was.

There are parts that are harder to find and access and those are surprisingly intact.

Always amazing at how much they left behind. This was the geriatric center. There is so much history in these old buildings

The pics are marked with ‘98, these are 20 Years old. Fascinating to see pre graffiti. I went there recently with my dog, came from the south on a long hike.

Nah, it's the Huji filter app lmao, it adds those dates in the bottom if you don't turn that feature off. I use it to fake film exposure effects since I don't have darkroom access during the pandemic. You can actually see that '98 time stamp on the picture of an October 2010 calendar that was hanging on the wall. I think a lot of y'all are thinking of a different place, this location is a few hours out of the city.

There is a nice older woman who worked for the DOC that lives close by. She saw some pictures of the prison I had posted and reached out with really great info on the property in general. Lots of old pictures and shes even offered to meet up with me next time to give me all of her files she has saved over the years. Supposedly her and a few other locals are working on a museum of sorts. Planning a trip back soon, there is so much ground to cover here

Maybe that's something I'll start working on during my downtime! I have hundreds of pictures of the property. There are 8+ large prison buildings and dozens of small out buildings too. Its overwhelming trying to take it all in, I need to spend a couple days out there to go through everything properly. Found some weird stuff in a few buildings including nude pictures and DOC issued clothing(boxes full) lol. Surprised I dont see this location posted in here more often, the photograph opportunities are extensive
