Hi everyone.
Hope y'all are keeping safe and sane out there.
I wanted to throw up a thread for us to talk about the possibility of throwing a DMVish area meet up.
- General thoughts?
- Would you be interested in attending something like that?
- Should we wait until COVID is managed?
There used to be some pretty dope meetups in the DMV/Mid-Atlantic region. I'd love to get that started again.
It'd just be a simple 1-2 day thing, probably on a weekend. We'd hit up a few easy explores, swap info, eat smores and drink booze around a campfire, and rock it out! The event would be designed to let folks get to know each other and do some low key photography without really risking Pig problems on the first get together.
Personally, it'd be perfeccct if we could have a large annual event and then smaller meetups that take on more challenging locations and/or research (yes, I'd be the nutter to host a research party. GRAB YER GOOGLE MAPS).
Anyway. Just wondering. Whatcha think?

I for one think this is a good idea...most of my explores tend to be solo (mostly due to a severe lack of willing participants), but it would be fun to meet some like-minded people; hang out, swap stories, research possible locations, get some nice pics.
I live down in North Carolina, but have no issue with a couple hour drive to VA (been exploring a bit up there lately, anyway), and weekends are usually open for me.
Hope y'all are doing well and keeping safe, Becc, hope you and yours are good, and that your little one is thriving.
I say let's go for it, hope there'll be a good response and we can get something going. 🙂

Maybe i have a cynical take, but honestly this might be years away. Considering that we all probably already go to the store and to work, meeting a few other explorers wouldn't really increase risk very much.

Think it would be cool to get a DMV meet up going. The most I've explored with was 4 people including myself and that was fun. But I would like to meet other local explorers.

It'd be rad to organize something like this. A campground setting would be ideal for people who may wanna be more distanced.
Either way keep us updated for sure. I was starting to think UER meetups were a thing of the past.

I would totally be down for a meetup. I'm back and forth between Knoxville, Georgia, and NC so really anywhere works for me  Keep this updated!!

Count me in for a VA meetup - would be great to meet some folks around here. I'm in southwest VA, but definitely do not mind driving, as I'm usually all over VA and parts of WV!

Semi-new to UER, very new to actually posting here. I'm from Maryland and I'd be totally down to come to something like this, it would be great to get to meet some people that don't think going into abandoned buildings is crazy. Let me know if it happens!

What do y'all think of setting up some sort of group chat (on an app like Telegram, GroupMe, or WhatsApp) so we can keep more in touch about this?
It might be a bit easier to make concrete plans like that. We can add more people who are interested as we go, too.
Just let me know how y'all feel about that! No worries if not, I just love the idea of a meet up.

I think that's a great idea! I personally am fond of WhatsApp but Groupme is alright too. But yeah sometimes I am bad about checking this website, so something on my phone would be great for local meetups and such, count me in.

GroupMe is kind of iffy with notifications, so I think WhatsApp is probably the best option for us.
We can wait and see what becckeez thinks since she had the awesome idea for a meetup!
