Rewind Review of the Year 2012

I enjoyed putting together my 2013 look back in time so much I thought I'd do the same but for 2012.

2012 was a strange year for me, I didn't get out nearly as much as I'd have liked to but perhaps I was hampered by other things going on, I honestly can't remember. I did, however, embark upon my first ever trip to the continent, exploring in France and Belgium over five days sleeping in a tiny car was a great experience. I also saw one of the greatest hospitals the UK ever had, paid my first of many visits to an iconic abandoned dye works, and hung a load of Union Jack bunting and flags off my local abandoned grain silo to mark The Queen's Jubilee weekend.

Looking back at these photos, even more of these locations don't exist any more which makes me rather sad, such is progress and all.

Good lord that unit in #14 is a beast. Excellent recap once again.

Weird story with that one, that was the 'other' side of the very well known ECVB Power Station in Belgium, which was a staple of the exploring circuit over there. The original turbine hall containing three Brown Boveri turbines was converted into a Museum of Energy when the power station was decommissioned, and then at some point the museum closed as well. I never got into the really well trodden more modern turbine hall/boiler house as we had a totally unexpected quite hilarious encounter with unexpected demolition workers on site, so we only did the original older turbine hall. I sort of wrote it off as a half fail back then but looking back at my photos of it recently I was thinking to myself 'damn this place was amazing'.
