Hey, my names Ghost and I have been stalking this site for a while and I decided to post! I am pretty new to Urban Exploring and only really visited the oil mill seed factory and the Trap. I was wondering if anyone had advice to staying safe and not getting caught XD.
I was also wondering if anyone has a recommended spot where I should visit next!

Thank you!!!!

I think you pretty much summed it up here, can't think of anything else helpful.

The Trap sounds interesting.. hopefully it's not a trap. Someone once told me "Be aware of what's going on around you"

Judging by the fact that you know about "The Trap" and call it "The Trap", I'm guessing that you are underage (The only people I have spoken with who knew about this location and referred to it as "The Trap" were teenagers)
The location has unfortunately burned down due to the negligence of an unknown teenager, as you have probably heard.

If my assumption is correct, my advice to you is to be careful and try to be smart with these things. As a teenager, you have plenty of time to explore and the penalties for getting caught will be significantly lower than if you were an adult. And if you are able to gain the maturity to properly participate in the hobby, then this is one of the most rewarding times to do so.

Be careful who you bring with you. If you have a friend who would probably trash a location and/or get you caught, leave them behind.
Leave no trace, and respect locations. Do not damage or vandalize them. Graffiti is quite tempting and most of us did it as teenagers, but the smartest thing to do is to avoid doing it. Keep locations intact for yourself, out of respect to the owners of the location, and most importantly for your fellow explorers. This will help you out quite a bit if you get caught by security, the owners, or the cops. Any of those three will be far less sympathetic to people they view as malicious vandals than to someone who simply has a passion for exploring and treats every location they visit with the utmost respect.

As for finding locations, there are three ways to do this:

The first is to keep an eye out for broken hydro meters, severely overgrown grass, and other signs that a location has been abandoned. Scouting locations in Toronto can be quite difficult compared to smaller cities in Ontario, but it is the most rewarding way to discover a location.

The second method, which is how I'm guessing you discovered the two locations that you have visited, is word of mouth. Finding locations through friends is easy, and usually how beginners get into urban exploration. And (assuming your friend takes you there) you get someone to guide you through the location.

The third method is to build up a reputation on forums such as UER through sharing valuable information and creating quality posts that contribute to the community. You will get access to more locations over time as you gain a reputation. This method takes the longest and requires you to engage in the other two methods first, but it will eventually provide you with far more locations than you could ever discover on your own.
